Located in the outskirts of Boston’s Back Bay on Commonwealth Avenue, the Ayer Mansion got our attention when it changed hands in an “off market” transaction last December. The $12.5 million purchase included two buildings, 395 Commonwealth (Ayer Mansion) and the neighboring building, 397 Commonwealth.
